The Square Field

Four brothers stand at each corner of their fathers square field.
At a given point the father signals for all of his sons to walk directly to the next corner.
Brother A walks to where brother B was stood and this takes him eighty minutes. Brother B walks to where brother C was stood and this takes him eighty minutes.
Brother C walks to where brother D was stood and this also takes him eighty minutes. Brother D walks to where brother A was stood but this takes him one hour and twenty minutes!
Each son is as equally fit as the next. Each son walks at exactly the same speed as the next and the field is completely flat, of solid ground and no wind blows.

Why is this so ?

ANSWER

One hour twenty minutes is eighty minutes !
