Kennet Valley Kite Festival

Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th July 2000

On arrival at the 4th Kennet Valley Kite Festival on Sunday, the sky was cloudy but the sun peeked out every now and then. Light winds made it difficult for many of the scheduled events to really get going, but by mid afternoon the wind had picked up slightly to 5-10mph, and the sun shone in an almost blue sky.

There was a wide array of kites being flown around the field, from a fantastic tie-dyed Rokkaku, to a "Kenny" from South Park, various large single line air-forms by Carl Robertshaw, custom-made Revolution kite sails, 4 line power kites, and much more! There were team flying displays from Crosslines and The Flying Squad, Rokkaku fights, and demonstrations in the main arena.

There were plenty of kite traders, food stalls and a beer tent- essential stuff for hungry and thirsty kite flyers! A very enjoyable day out, and well worth the journey (only 50 miles from London).
