Day 5

Berrow 2000 Daily Report: Wednesday 27th September

The wind was still just as strong today, blowing around 25+mph. There were plenty of small kites to be seen on the beach! However it didn't stop people having fun - there were safaris down to the lighthouse and races, before the rain set in around 1pm.

The racing took place in the morning with Novice, Pro, and for the first time ever, a Ladies Race. There were a few crashes, trashed kites and trashed buggies. We watched as a wheel detached itself from one of the buggies in the Pro race, which then went on its own safari across the car park!...

The Ladies Race was won by Annie Stratton, however rumour has it that only two entered the race... obviously the combination of too much wind and lots of mud had put the other girlies off! Maybe tomorrow!...

We took advantage of the afternoon's bad weather and spent it interviewing some of the more well-known characters at Berrow.. to be published soon! We also found time to visit the Pound Shop - a "must-do" when the weather turns bad at Berrow!

At the Seagull Club that evening we were entertained by a comedian called Phil Anthony - who was constantly heckled through his performance by the British Buggy Club contingent shouting "WASSUP!" (a catchphrase from the new Budweiser advert - if you've seen it, you'll understand!) which most people thought was more amusing than the actual show!
